There was water in the lake? You were so lucky. When we visited last summer, my wife and I were "ferried" in a Land Rover from the pier to Jag Niwas island. It's a fabulous hotel, though we wished we could have seen it with water up to the windows.

And you're right, of course: The City Palace is fantastic.

Reminds me of my trip to the lake city in 2004. Nice pictures.

India Travel Guide

oh good!! I'm glad you miss India. I know it wasn't the easiest place to visit, but through the it all, it gets in and under your skin. It's hard to let go of such a fascinating country. I'd go back to India any day of the week! Let me know when you go....maybe we can met up!

I am glad to know you overall enjoyed the trip to India. As an Indian whenever I hear people tell me they visited the country - I cringe a little and pray they had a good time. its a tough country - you have to have a certain amount of thick skin and SOH to survive - but it can also be very rewarding. I miss India too...

happy travels!

Are you forgetting about your book tour? I come from a very indian sounding place.
